Zeus is a potbelly pig. He was surrendered, along with other potbelly pigs and chickens, when the homeowner received a violation notice from their township.
Potbelly pigs are considered livestock and are not permitted in all areas depending on zoning. Although smaller than pigs raised for meat, potbelly pigs are still relatively large. Pigs are intelligent, and contrary to popular belief, they are quite tidy.
We have Zeus on a special food formulated for potbelly pigs. This diet helps ensure that Zeus receives the necessary nutrition without excess fat. Although pigs graze, browse, and root throughout the day, they do not require a large volume of food, making their cost very low. We generally use one bag of pig food per month at a cost of roughly $20. We also provide hay in Zeus’s stall, but a full bale lasts him a long time.
